Nevada Marijuana Business Plans Required for Applications

Nevada is accepting applications from qualified existing medical marijuana establishment certificate owner(s) to be awarded recreational marijuana establishment licenses of the same type and at the same location. This application period is also open to the NRS 369 liquor wholesalers to apply for a distribution license.

The state of Nevada also anticipates opening the application process to the general public for marijuana business licenses again in November 2018. The state Department of Taxation is responsible for licensing and regulating marijuana businesses in Nevada.


Timeline for Nevada Marijuana Business Licensing Processes:

Request for Application Date (existing medical marijuana establishments only) - April 10, 2018
Department Begins Accepting Applications - June 13, 2018
Deadline for Submission of Applicants - June 26, 2018

Applications re-open for the general public - November 2018

 

Cultivation License/Application Overview:

shutterstock_401213428-1A cultivation license is required to cultivate (grow), process, and package marijuana; to have marijuana tested by a testing facility; and to sell marijuana to retail marijuana stores, to marijuana product manufacturing facilities, and to other cultivation facilities, but not to consumers.

Non-refundable Application Fee: $5,000
License Fee: $30,000

The state of Nevada requires you to submit several business/operational plans as part of your application. The following plans are required for the Cultivation application:

 

Production License/Application Overview:

A production license is required to purchase marijuana; manufacture, process, and package marijuana and marijuana products; and sell marijuana and marijuana products to other product manufacturing facilities and to retail marijuana stores, but not to consumers. Marijuana products include things like edibles, ointments, and tinctures.

Non-refundable Application Fee: $5,000
Licensing Fee: $10,000

Retail Store License/Application Overview:

A marijuana retail license is required to purchase marijuana and marijuana products from other state-licensed marijuana establishments and to sell marijuana and marijuana products to customers. Marijuana products include things like edibles, ointments, and tinctures.

Non-refundable Application Fee: $5,000
Licensing Fee: $20,000
